Legendary Xitsonga traditional musician Khatisa Chavalala reputed to be the first woman musician amongst the Vatsonga Machangana people may have died but her name will surely live on.
This is after a foundation in her name was formed.
The Khatisa Chavalala Cultural Heritage Foundation has been formed to further the legacy of the multi award winning artist. As part of protecting her legacy, the foundation seeks to protect her music against piracy and copyrights infringements.
Members of the board include former cabinet minister Rich Baloyi who until recently was South Africa’s ambassador to Congo Brazzaville and the muso’s daughter Elizabeth Chavalala.
